Getting fit again
I have been following Friedeke's pilates and body shape classes for over a year now with great results. When people look at me now, they could possibly find it hard to believe that I have historically never been sporty. I carried about 20 kilos of 'baby weight' for more than15 years after my children were born! I was overweight, unfit, and with arthritis in my toes, I waddled back and forth LOL!
Approaching my 50's, I resolved that enough was enough, I wanted to see if I could get back to the body I had in my 30's. Resolve, I would say, is a vital ingredient for success, as is patience. Within a year, I became very fit, strong, and lost 20 kilos which I have maintained ever since! I wasn't dieting - I just found a new lifestyle, which is what I think exercise needs to be, as with a healthy eating habit.
For me, the combination of pilates, body shape and Friedeke is ideal. I have been working from home for some years now, and I used to be prone to aches and pains due to being inactive and/or sitting at the computer for too long. Just one pilates lesson with Friedeke is like I've had a 'relaxing' but effective full inner body workout and I rarely have aches and pains anymore. It is lovely to see the results, and I have built up a lot of strength, without feeling that I am trying too hard! My core is so strong now, that I literally am taller! I can reach the top of shelves without steps, because I can stretch properly and reach up, without wobbling or feeling uncertain of my arthritis toes. It's quite miraculous!
Friedeke is also very kindly bi-lingual in her lessons, being mindful that her clients are international. Body shape works beautifully with pilates and again focuses on the core and additional strength.
